A lovely large New Zealand Greenstone Toki carved in NZ by Tony from Taranaki, bound with black waxed cord.
A genuine New Zealand Pounamu (Greenstone) that is of great cultural significance for Maori. it is believed to enhance mana (prestige) of its possesor. When received as a gift Pounamu is said to gain value as a special treasure. The "Toki" is a symbol of courage and strength in time of adversity. The toki (adze) was a chizel tool used by the Maori people of Aotearoa to carve everthing from their great wakas (canoes) to the intricate designs found in their marae (meeting house).
